All of these prime essays focus on the subject of history. Many different aspects of history, both eastern and western, are included in this section. Some essays are more specific while others are extremely broad. Also, some essays are not as well developed as others. The essays with many footnotes and sources are far more accurrate than the lesser developed ideas. The end of each essay contains a downloadable Adobe PDF of that essay.

A study of the ranks of the priesthood of Santeria. It focuses on the requirements and the abilities involved with ascending to the next level of the hierarchy. Although brief, the essay is very concise in its explaination of the different levels.

CATHOLICISM CALLS FOR REVOLUTION: THE DIFFERENCES IN FOCUS AND PRACTICE BETWEEN LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND THE CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RELIGION
This short essay focuses on the politically motivated movement by Catholic priest and the modern spiritual movement in Latin America. The two interpretations of Catholic doctrine caused a liberation movement for equal rights and democratic governments.

DISCRIMINATION WITHIN A NATION: A BRIEF HISTORY OF CONDEMNATION BEFORE WORLD WAR I
A essay covering the existance of discrimination within the public realm just before World War I. The essay focuses on two court cases and an overview of the mindset of the public in the 19th century.

FROM KINGS TO GODS: THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE AND THE IMPERIAL CULT
A comprehensive study at the role of the Roman Imperial Cult and the establishment of the Roman Empire. It takes special notice to the need of the Roman dictators to prove their legitimacy as kings through divine right.

THE HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE
A close study of the events surrounding the purchase of the Louisiana territory from France. The essay follows the United States' decisions surrounding the purchase and the effects of the purchase on the United States for generations to come.

THE GREAT DEPRESSION
An overview of the Great Depression. Originally written in the format of a brochure for a history class, this essay contains very general information. The PDF download contains a few pictures from the era of the Great Depresion.

THE LAOTIAN CIVIL WAR: THE INTRANSIGENCE OF GENERAL PHOUMI NOSAVAN AND AMERICAN INTERVENTION IN THE FALL OF 1960
This historical thesis follows the history of the Laotian Civil War, starting with the coup d'état lead by Neutralist Captain Kong Le on August 9, 1960 and ending with the coup d'état lead by Rightist General Phoumi Nosavan on December 8, 1960.

REVIEW: CAJUN COUNTRY
A review of a book which explains the cajun culture. The review summarizes the book and highlights my personal likes and dislikes of the book. While the book is filled with tons of information, it is very thin and a very easy read.

REVIEW: THE STORM THAT DROWNED A CITY
A review of the documentry about Hurricane Katrina and the city of New Orleans. It is a timeline of the events in the week Hurricane Katrina destoryed the city of New Orleans. It also shows how the city flooded and why.

REVIEW: UNCLE SAM'S WAR OF 1898 AND THE ORIGINS OF GLOBALIZATION
A review of a book written by my professor of American History. He makes the claim that American imperialism began with the Spanish-American War; however, the book explains the beginning of American imperialism in the Carribean.

THE RICH LANGUAGE OF CONVERSION: THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF CONVERSION
A brief look at the different forms of conversion that occured in Latin America during the early years of European conquest. The terminology is very basic, but it is explained quite well in this short but concise essay.

THE RISE OF PROTESTANTISM IN LATIN AMERICAN: THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DECLINES IN POPULARITY
A brief overview of the protestant reformation in Latin America. The essay discusses the appeal of protestantism and why Latinos are turning away from the Catholic Church, which seems to favor the rich and powerful in the modern era.

SUMMARY OF ANDREW JACKSON AND THE TAVERN-KEEPER'S DAUGHTER
A summary of the events surrounding the "Petticoat Affair," a sex scandal that involved Margaret "Peggy" O'Neal Eaton and the wives of the members of the Executive Cabinet during Andrew Jackson's presidency.

SUMMARY OF BLACK BEAN LOTTERY
After capturing 176 American rebells living in the Mexican province of Texas, Santa Anna ordered that 1 out of every 10 be killed for treason. Domingo Huerta placed 176 beans in a jar, with 17 black beans, and had the prisoners choose their fate.

SUMMARY OF THE GREATNESS OF GEORGE WASHINGTON
A summary of an essay outlining the characteristics of George Washington that made him such a great man. It focuses on his moral character and how he spend a lot of time focusing on his image and made sure he was always a gentleman.

SUMMARY OF JEFFERSON'S RETREAT
A summary of an essay which highlights contradictions by Thomas Jefferson. Most notably, it refers to Jefferson's anti-slavery ideas, and later "diffusion," even though he was a slave owner.

SUMMARY OF THE MAN AT THE WHITE HOUSE WINDOW
This is a summary of an article that focuses on Abraham Lincoln's time as President of the United States. It pays close attention to how Lincoln changed from wanting to contain slavery to advocating abolition.

SUMMARY OF SALLY MULLER: THE WHITE SLAVE
Another summary of a story which tells the story of how the German girl was mistakenly taken to be "black" and was sold into slavery in Louisiana. It follows the girls life and how she finally discovered her true roots.

SUMMARY OF STEALING JOHN BROWN'S BELL
A summary of a funny tale of the bell at Harper's Ferry. It tells of how the bell was saved by soldiers and stored by a farmer for 31 years. Finally, the soldiers returned and returned the bell to the government.

THE VIRGIN IN THE NEW WORLD: THE IMAGE OF THE VIRGIN MARY, IMPORTED, RE-INTERPRETED, AND PUT TO POLITICAL USE IN LATIN AMERICA
A summary of the history of the Virgin Mary and her reverence in Spain and how it was brought to the new world. However, this essay's main focus is on the development of the image of the Virgin Mary as a political icon.
