Foreign Language Essays

These are essays written in different languages, but mostly Spanish. The Spanish essays are very general and written in elementary Spanish; therefore, they are not too complicated to read. They cover different topics, but mostly focus on Latin American politics and movie reviews. These are not scholarly articles, but rather mainly opinion essays. Ki is the other language featured here. The end of each essay contains a downloadable Adobe PDF of that essay.

A LA DANZA
A comedic play written for a high school Spanish II class by two friends and I. The play is about two white boys who ask a black girl to the dance, but she says yes to both of them. Patricia closes with her infamous saying.

COMO EL SACERDOTE Y EL PSIQUIATRA TRATARON DE SOLUCIONAR EL PROBLEM DE CARLOS
This essays is a review of the actions of the psychiatrist and the priest in the book "Las Batallas en el Desierto." The essay specifically focuses on how the adults handle a coming of age situation.

EN CONTRA DEL GOBIERNO ARGENTINO
An essay focusing on the civil unrest in Argentina during the 1970s and 1980s. It makes reference to the movie "La Historia Oficial" and the role of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo.

KI: THE NOGARDIAN LANGUAGE
This is the alphabet and the basic grammar of the Ki language. The downloadable PDF at the bottom on the page also includes a basic verb list as well as the basics of the language.

REVIEW OF "FIRE FROM THE MOUNTAIN"
A review of the documentary named "Fire From the Mountain." The documentary focuses on the civil war within Nicaragua in the late 1907s and 1980s and the intervention of the United States.
